I think it could be added that much of what is newly operationalized in wokeism, in conjunction with the continued propagandistic legitimization of imperialism by means of an extention of the rhetoric of freedom, democracy, and rights, is simply new forms of what was identified already in the 19th century as “bourgeois decadence”. It seems to me bourgeois decadence is still very much a reality, although it was made invisible as such in the neoliberal era.
